SEO Analysis Report

Fictional example report for Sample & Sons.

Executive summary

Sample & Sons is becoming more visible in search, but visibility is growing faster than the evidence of stronger search-result appeal. Clicks and impressions both rose 25%, leaving CTR at 3%. Focus SEO effort on the non-branded operations consulting opportunity and the quality of the service and case-study content. The business goal is qualified discovery by operations leaders, not a higher impression count on its own. Organic Search already contributes 210 of the site's 360 booking events, making this a commercially relevant channel to improve carefully.

Business context

A fictional B2B consultancy helping growing service businesses improve operations and customer experience. The primary goal is qualified consultation bookings. The target audience is operations leaders at growing service businesses.

Evidence and findings

Finding 1

More exposure has not increased the overall click-through rate. Search Console shows 100,000 impressions and 3,000 clicks, compared with 80,000 and 2,400. Average position improved from 18.4 to 14.2. An average across queries is not the rank of a particular page, and additional impressions can come from lower-intent searches. For the owner, the question is whether the new exposure reaches likely buyers. Review query intent and associated landing pages before treating the headline position improvement as a reason to commission a large content program.

Finding 2

Non-branded service discovery is the clearest query-level opportunity. 'Operations consulting' generated 800 clicks from 40,000 impressions, a 2% CTR. The branded 'sample and sons' query generated 1,000 clicks from 20,000 impressions, a 5% CTR. Branded visitors already know the company, so 5% is not a fair target for the service query. At the same 40,000 impressions, a hypothetical increase from 2% to 2.5% would mean 200 additional clicks. This is an illustration of leverage, not a prediction; ranking, result features, demand, and query mix all affect the outcome.

Finding 3

Organic traffic is producing bookings, but the systems answer different questions. GA records 6,000 Organic Search sessions and 210 booking events, a 3.5% booking rate versus the site's 3%. Search Console's 3,000 clicks cannot be reconciled one-for-one with those sessions because scope, attribution, and counting differ. Nor can the saved data attribute the 210 bookings to a specific query. Use Search Console to understand discovery and GA to assess on-site outcomes, then add booking qualification to determine whether that discovery is commercially useful.

Finding 4

Useful service detail and credible proof deserve more attention than keyword repetition. The current services page has an FAQ and the case study has an author and publication date. Build on those foundations with clear engagement scope, fit criteria, and a case-study account of the problem, work, and supported result. The saved evidence does not provide an exhaustive keyword inventory or prove an indexing defect. Prioritize better answers on these existing pages before creating many similar pages that compete for the same visitor need.

Recommended next steps

  1. Priority 1 · SEO specialist + owner · First week: Review the operations consulting query and its actual landing-page association in Search Console. Draft a services title such as 'Operations Consulting for Service Businesses | Sample & Sons' and a description explaining the consultation outcome. Check the saved current title before publishing; use distinct wording that matches the visible offer rather than making unsupported guarantees.
  2. Priority 2 · Subject-matter expert + writer · Weeks 1–3: Expand the services FAQ around who the engagement suits, what the consultation covers, and how scope is determined. Strengthen the existing case study with approved evidence and a review date. Link the case study to services and booking in relevant context. Do not invent customer results or credentials to make the page appear authoritative.
  3. Priority 3 · SEO specialist · Next comparable window: Compare service-query impressions, clicks, CTR, and position together, then check organic landing-page booking and qualification rates. Keep a change log. If impressions increase but qualified bookings do not, examine intent and landing-page fit before writing more content or declaring the title change a success.

Applying this to your business

Replace 'operations consulting' with the service your customers search for before they know your name. Separate those searches from branded demand. A professional practice might compare 'business tax advice' with its firm name; a retailer might compare a product category with its brand. Improve the page that answers that search need, and connect discovery to a meaningful outcome. This report helps decide which existing page deserves SEO effort, rather than treating every keyword as equally valuable.

Confidence and limitations

The measurements support the direction of change, not a causal claim. Booking events do not establish revenue or lead quality. Seasonality, channel mix, and measurement changes can affect the comparison. All numbers, business details, and findings are authored examples rather than a live assessment.

How to validate progress

Track the service query's current 2% CTR alongside position and impression mix; assess organic's current 3.5% booking rate alongside qualified consultations. A better CTR with worse buyer fit is not a complete win. Allow for search reporting and indexing lag, and compare equivalent windows. The next report should distinguish better result presentation, broader query coverage, and stronger on-site conversion instead of attributing all movement to one edit.
